TD Guardianship NFP

  • Guardian of Person

With many years of experience working in long-term care, healthcare, and mental health care, we are well equipped to navigate often difficult healthcare decisions as they arise. We make every effort to consider the person and what decisions they would make for themselves. We formulate an individualized care plan for each client based on our assessment of the client’s needs and the recommendations of the healthcare providers, as well as input from close friends and family when possible. We affirm that an individual does not lose the right to lead their life the way they wanted to before their disability.

  • Guardian of Estate

TD Guardianship NFP is able to take on management of small estates to ensure that monthly bills are paid accordingly, and that taxes are properly filed. We will formulate a budget according to our client’s individualized needs, and work within the budget to maintain their quality of life and to suit their individualized care plan.

  • Limited Guardian of Person/Estate

We are happy to work with individuals who may retain some capacity to manage their own affairs, but who require a limited guardian to help them properly navigate their healthcare and finances. We are pleased to work within the parameters of any limited guardianship orders.

  • Temporary Guardianship

The reality is that family members will not always agree on what is best for their disabled loved one. And sometimes there is dispute over property and finances. TD Guardianship is able to offer temporary guardian of person services to help make healthcare decisions and formulate an interim care plan while these disputes get settled in court. We are also able to investigate and secure assets prior to the appointment of a designee or corporate fiduciary for larger estates.

  • Co-Guardianship

Often times there is an appropriate family member willing to act and serve in capacity as guardian for their loved one. But due to circumstances such as geography or their own limitations, that family member might find they need the additional support of a co-guardian to have “boots on the ground” for some of the day-to-day decisions. TD Guardianship is generally able to work in collaboration with another guardian to ensure that our clients needs are always at the forefront.

  • Mental Health Court Custodian Services

For individuals with mental illness needing assistance with management and oversight of Assisted/Agreed Outpatient Treatment (AOT) orders, TD Guardianship NFP is able to serve in this capacity when it is not feasible for a family member or friend to serve. In this role, we maintain routine contact with the individual and help to ensure compliance with treatment, follow up appointments, and attendance at court proceedings. We work closely with the treating providers, the involved family members, and the attorneys involved in the case, and provide regular updates to the judge during court proceedings.
